Northern region Orange Partners chapter for People’s Party has come up with a special committee for fundraising activities in a bid to make the ruling party financially stable.
Among others, the committee comprises Mzuzu based business people and various professionals.
Orange Partners Official for the Northern Province Reverend Dr. Ian Longwe told the media that the fundraising would be achieved by organising various events in the city and surrounding areas.
“This committee wants to change people’s mindset of just receiving monetary handouts from the party but instead members should contribute to the party for its survival,” said Reverend Longwe.
He said the grouping will also be working with various stakeholders like politically active youth, students, and artisans.
“We want to ensure that if the party wants to conduct its activities in both rural and urban areas, it should do that without financial hitches.”
The 15 member committee was voted into office on elections that took place at Chenda Hotel in the City recently.
Mr. Leonard Njikho who was ushered into office as Chairperson for the grouping, Mr. Julius Mithi is publicity secretary and Mr. Gift Luhanga is Treasurer.
