Bingu wa Mutharika’s children barred from Ndata farm

Children of late Malawi president Bingu wa Mutharika have expressed sadness that they are being barred from visiting their fathers multi-million state-of-the-art mansion at Ndata farm in Thyolo district, southern Malawi.

In a statement released Friday, the three children claim that former First Lady Mrs. Callista Mutharika and her staff physically confronted Madaliso Mutharika son to the late president when he visited the estate and have since filed with proper authorities.

The Mutharika children claim the house at Ndata was bought for the mother late Ethel Zauya Mutharika and placed it in a trust in the name of the late Ethel and her children.

Last week Callista Mutharika reported to police after the children ‘invaded’ the mansion to host a party she described as wild.

Since the death of Mutharika six months ago, contents of his will have not been made public but unconfirmed reports indicate that the late Mutharika left the mansion to Callista Mutharika.

Three months ago when the late President’s brother, Peter Mutharika granted Zodiak an exclusive interview he said personally would not need a penny from his brother’s wealth.

“I will claim nothing. He had a wife and children and it is proper that these are the people to benefit,” said Mutharika.

President Mutharika died of cardiac arrest in April, 2012 and currently the public is waiting for the findings of a commission of inquiry probing his death.
