Malawi was beaten 1-0 by Ghana in a crucial qualifying match on played at home on Saturday in the capital Lilongwe. With the aggregate score 3-0 favouring Ghana, Malawi crashes out of the qualifying and will not go to South Africa next year.
Malawi needed three goals to give themselves a chance to qualify and that was going to be a difficult task considering the woeful scoring record the team has against decent teams.
The matter was compounded by the quick goal in the third minute by Ghana’s Afriyie Acquah after a corner kick.
