CFAO bails out Malawi Technical Colleges

Malawian students in technical colleges will now have access to modern learning equipment for their practical lessons, thanks to CFAO Malawi limited for committing K1.2 million for the purchase of the equipment.

Managing director for CFAO Malawi limited Mr. David Blair presented the cheque on Friday when Labour minister Mrs. Eunice Makangala visited the company premises in Blantyre.

The labour minister thanked CFAO Malawi limited for the donation which she said will minimise challenges technical colleges are facing especially during practical lessons.

“We are grateful to CFAO Malawi limited for this timely help which will contribute a lot in promoting technical education as our students will now have access to modern equipment for their practical lessons,” said Makangala.

She therefore asked other companies to emulate such gesture and provide various learning equipment if technical colleges in the country are to produce well-skilled workforce.

According to the minister, lack of learning equipment is a big challenge in almost all technical colleges in Malawi.

She noted that the available learning equipment currently being used in these technical colleges are outdated, making it hard for students when it comes to practical lessons.

Blair, CFAO Malawi Limited managing director, said the company values vocation training saying it is the centre of its operations.

“The company relies on such technical colleges to provide well trained workforce this is why we decided to respond to such challenges when we were approached to help on the problem last year”, explained Blair.
