Government says the exercise of removing street children and beggars is still facing challenges as some people are using them for their benefits.

Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare Dr Mery Shawa said in an interview that the ministry has noted that there are some people who are sneaking out street children from rehabilitation centres after being relocated by authorities.

Dr Shawa was however quick to point out that since the exercise government has managed to get a number of street kids and 75 percent of them relocated to rehabilitaion centers while others have been reconnected to their respective families.
