Redployment of Kinnah to create problems in hiring new flames coach, says FAM

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Walter Nyamilandu has said government’s decision to redeploy the former coaching panel means resources to higher another coach won’t be automatic. We’re still in a tight situation because, as it’s, the vote of the next coach, be it interim or permanent, isn’t available unless an approval is made by government to create a special vote.

It isn’t automatic that government will sponsor the hiring of the new coach because even for the new coach, the question will be who will be responsible for his pay because government is still paying for the three coaches who’ve been redployed. So, we’re faced with challenges on how to fill up this vacancy because funding for this position isn’t certain,” Nyamilandu said Sunday.

Government last week officially relieved of their duties the national football team’s coaching panel that comprised Kinnah Phiri (Head Coach), Young Chimodzi (Deputy Coach) and Jack Chamangwana (Technical Adviser) for being behind Flame’s dismal performance recently.

So far some of the names that are likely being suggested to take over from the trio include Young Chimodzi (Kinnah’s deputy), South Africa-based trio Ernest Mtawali, Patrick Mabedi and John Maduka, Yasin Osman, Eddington Ng’onamo and Surestream academy head coach Andy Dale.
