Obama to meet Joyce Banda and three other African leaders

President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, will on Thursday March 28, 2013 meet four African leaders including President Joyce Banda of Malawi.

In a press statement signed by the U.S Ambassador to Malawi, Jeanine Jackson, the visit is meant to strengthen the ties amongst the five leaders.

“The visit of these four leaders underscores the strategic importance President Obama places on building partnerships and substantive engagement with sub-Saharan Africa, and commitment to working with strong and emerging African democracies,” said Jackson.

“The five leaders will discuss strengthening democratic institutions across sub-Saharan Africa, and building on Africa’s democratic progress to generate increased economic opportunities and expanded trade and investment,” she added.

The three other African leaders to join President Banda during the visit include President Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone, President Macky Sall of Senegal, President Joyce Banda of Malawi, and Prime Minister José Maria Pereira Neves of Cape Verde.
