Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) president Atupele Muluzi says he is not interested to be the Chancellor of the University of Malawi.
Muluzi said this during a rally he addressed at Mponda ground in Zomba to wind up his whistle stop tour of Chiradzulu and Zomba districts.
He said if delegates at the coming first ever national policy conference proposes that a president should not be chancellor of the University of Malawi he will honour their demands.
Speaking to thousands of UDF supporters who stood against ruling People’s Party’s earlier fights in the day, Atupele Muluzi said it is time to accord the country’s universities the respect and dignity they deserve by having an independent person as Chancellor of the University of Malawi.
He said for sometime university education has been meddled by politicians with their desire to win practice politics as these public universities.

In this regard Atupele Muluzi said once delegates at the conference speaks against the idea of him being chancellor if ushered to power in 2014 elections he will respect the party’s stand.

  1. Why are you revealing the outcome of a policy conference that has not taken place? You are now telling us what is in your mind because you know you do not have the qualifications to head the University. The reality is that becoming a Chancellor for the University is not a campaign issue for political parties. It is government policy issue that may require parliamentary amendment. For sure making you president would mean lowering of high standards in everything in our country like your father did.

  2. Why is Face of Malawi always copy and paste stories from Nyasa Times – no respect for copyrights? and then why do they just carry any story without balance, verification. Is it just a chagwambale ndi ndiwo news outlet
