Sub-Saharan Consulting Group to create 10,000 jobs for Malawi

A regional business consulting firm has embarked on an ambitious plan to create over 10,000 jobs in Malawi by the end of this year.

Sub-Saharan Consulting Group SSCG Chief Operations Officer, Eugene Nizeyimana said this will be done through a robust initiative that will link Small Scale Businesses to investors and banks.

Nizeyimana unveiled the plan ahead of the Malawi SME and Enterprise Development conference to take place in Lilongwe this week.

“You can’t talk about recovering economy while you ignore SME’s” he said

Mr. Nizeyimana said for a start SSCG will identify 1,000 small and medium entrepreneurs whom they will impart knowledge, help develop their business plans and link them with banks for possible financing.

He observed that the country’s SME’s lack support ranging from financing to access of business opportunities on top of exorbitant taxes.

The Malawi SME and Enterprise Development conference to take place on April 25 in Lilongwe will bring together several private and government stakeholders on trade and business.

Deputy Finance Minister Dr. Cornelius Mwalwanda and Trade Minister Sosten Gwengwe will be in attendance according to organizers.
