Welcome to CHINTHECHE INN

Situated just south of Malawi’s Nkhata Bay, this pristine beach stretches for miles and is often deserted apart from a few local fishermen. Chintheche lies against the dramatic backdrop of the Viphya Mountains, on the remote northern shores of Lake Malawi on extensive lawns dotted with marvelous indigenous trees.

Why choose Chintheche Inn:

  • It is situated on a white sand deserted beach.
  • Many lakeside, cultural & nature-based activities.
  • Chintheche Inn is located in what is considered to be the most verdant or green region in Malawi.
  • Located near local fishing villages and nearby Bandawe Mission- this gives you a perfect insight between Malawi’s local living and colonial past.
  • Beach barbecues!

Accommodation:

Accommodation at Chintheche Inn consists of ten comfortable, brightly furnished rooms with on-suite bathrooms. Local crafts and draped mosquito netting round the rooms off. Rooms open out onto a private balcony and the beautiful beach. All are equipped with fans. Inter-leading rooms are available for those travelling as a family and who want to stay in close proximity to their children. The extensive grounds and lush gardens have a lively campsite and a large pool. There is a central dining area and bar. Dinner however usually takes place under the stars when the weather is kind.

Activities:

Chintheche Inn caters for all guests! You can lie around and do the absolute minimum, or you can get going with the wide range of activities on offer. Guests can enjoy some boating in 1 x 10-seater wooden fishing boat, or go snorkeling (snorkeling equipment is provided). Mountain biking is the best way to see the local villages, and village tours can also be arranged. Day trips to Nkhata Bay and Bandawe Mission can also be arranged. Bird watching and guided walks are very popular, and if you wish, a meeting with the local chief can be arranged.

Location:

Chintheche Inn is set on the western banks of central Lake Malawi. Malawi’s neighbors include Mozambique (to the South), Zambia (to the West) and Tanzania (North). The distance from the capital Lilongwe to Chintheche Inn is approximately 340 kilometers or a 4 and a half hour drive.
