Mangochi Tourism Association to crown a beauty queen

As part of World Tourism Day celebrations,
the Mangochi Tourism Association will crown a
beauty queen whose task will be to promote
tourism in the lakeside district.
During the celebration to be held at Mlangeni
Beach on September 25, one female
motivated and passionate about travel and
tourism will walk away with the Face of
Tourism crown.
“The pageant aims at creating a public figure
who will work in the promotion of tourism in
the district and get a chance to be a tourism
ambassador for the district. She will appear in
the district’s tourism promotional materials
and get a chance to grace most of the events
and tourism activities happening in the
district, in the country and even beyond,”
said Dennis Imaan, one of the organisers.
World Tourism Day is celebrated annually on
September 27 worldwide.
Its purpose is to raise awareness to the
international community on the importance of
tourism and its social, cultural, political and
economic value.
“The event will consequently become annual
and will grow with the years. It has been
initiated by Mangochi Tourism Association and
is being managed by Determination Tourism
Consultants, a newly established company
aiming at promoting Mangochi Tourism and
developing Mangochi as a leading tourism
destination in the country,” explained Imaan.
Apart from the beauty contest, other
activities include traditional dances, sporting
activities like beach soccer and volley ball,
canoeing, swimming competitions and live
music performances.
