Reports indicate Germany has become the first donor country to cut aid to Malawi midst reports of rampant looting at the seat of government, Capitol Hill, which has also been linked to top officials in government including the President herself.
According to a source, the German government arrived at that decision on Friday, October 5, and they are only waiting for the opportune time to communicate it to Lilongwe within next week.
The recent cash leaking at the Capitol Hill has been attributed by the Germans as the reasons for cutting their aid to Malawi which had just gained the donor confidence with the coming in of President Joyce Banda who had promised donors to take a different path from that of his predecessor and nemesis, Bingu wa Mutharika.
The decision was arrived at after the donors met Vice President Khumbo Kachali where he failed to properly defend the government in the event of the recent happenings.
