Businessman and Peoples’ Party executive member, Oswald Lutepo, who has been very much linked to the Cash-gate scandal has come out in the open to declare that he is not a fugitive and is coming back home to face the law.

Lutepo has been quoted in the local media to indicate that he is of course in the Far East as alleged in some quarters but his being there is not a way of running away from the long arm of the law but he went there just to pursue his business interests.

“I wanted to stay here longer but I am actually coming back so that I can be investigated,” Lutepo has been quoted thus.

ACB indicated that it already obtained a warrant of arrest against the 35 year old business man whose company is alleged to have received a payment of about MK 1 billion for rendering no services to government.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Nelson Bophani, said last week that the Police had notified Interpol of Lutepo’s status of being a fugitive but a visit to the Interpol website which is said to be updated the minute Police notify them of a missing fugitive showed no results for Oswald Lutepo, a development that shocked many and made them speculate that the Police were covering the ruling party tracks in the role of Lutepo in the cash-gate saga before pouncing on him.

Meanwhile, ACB has had twenty accounts of people frozen of which eight of them belong to Oswald Lutepo either as a sole holder or a joint holder. Oswald Lutepo is the PP aspiring parliamentarian for a constituency in Kasungu.
