The Capitol Hill leaking and looting that has seen tongues wagging, military officers harass innocent citizens, donors threaten aid withdraw and the civil society resurrecting themselves has spurred the President into action, FaceofMalawi understands.

According to the information we have gathered, President Banda is set to reshuffle her cabinet once she is back from the US this week after she had travelled to that country for the UN General Assembly where reports as well indicated that she was hit by a high blood pressure and was admitted at a Texas hospital.

A source has indicated that President Banda understands how grave the situation has been and how it has affected her popularity and how it will eventually affect the voting pattern in the 2014 tripartite elections. To this end, President Banda is set to make cabinet changes that will not only earn back the trust she has lost in the eyes of the people but also reclaim the fading donor confidence.

At the breaking of the Capitol Hill looting, some of her cabinet ministers were linked to the scandal and have continued to have pointers following them still. Some of the most notable figures in Banda’s cabinet including lawyer and Minister of Justice, Ralph Kasambara; Minister of Finance, Ken Lipenga; and Minister of tourism, Rachel Mazombwe Zulu have all been linked to some shoddy deals at the seat of government.

Meanwhile, some pointers have gone further to link the President herself to some looting and corruption syndicate at the Capitol prompting other quarters to speculate that any attempt by Banda to curb out corruption is a mere smokescreen.
