Kachali again! VP accused of bulldozing relation through the doors of UNIMA

It never pours for Malawi’ Vice President Khumbo Kachali who never stays away from controversy. The doing of VP Kachali has proven that the second in command loves doing things the controversial way. As I speak, there is tension at College of Medicine that has led to students boycotting classes last week Friday 25 October 2013 due to an alleged corruption by Khumbo Kachali who has influenced College authorities to admit his unqualified relation.

Promise Kachali a relation to the Vice President, has been selected for Bachelors of Science in Internal Medicine even when he is not qualified. According to the information we have at hand, Promise Kachali was working as a Medical Assistant at Lirangwe Health Center and was not eligible to be admitted into the Degree program as he holds a Certificate in Clinical Medicine and not a Diploma in Clinical Medicine which was a requirement for the Degree program. However Khumbo Kachali did it the Mponela Bedgate-scam way, bulldozing his way for the admission of his relation.

As a qualification into the Bachelors of Science degree at College of Medicine, one needs to have MSCE, “O” Level, IGCSE or GCE with 6 credits which include English and Mathematics. A Diploma in Clinical Medicine or its equivalent from a recognized institution and at least two years working experience as clinical officer providing surgical and other clinical care at a district or rural hospital.

Meanwhile some authorities at College of Medicine are demanding the dismissal of Promise Kachali from the institution as students have also threatened to boycott classes again if Kachali is not dealt with accordingly.
