16 year old commits suicide after impregnating lover

A 16 year old boy in the Capital city of Lilongwe has committed suicide after impregnating his girlfriend, FaceofMalawi understands.

According to information sourced, the 16 year old who used to live with his elder brother in Mtandire impregnated his girlfriend and when the parents of the girlfriend learned of the development, they went to the boy’s home and abandoned their child there forcing him to marry her.

Afraid of the weight and responsibility of family life, the young man was so devastated that he decided to take his own life.

Cases of suicide have become so common in Malawi such that a day hardly passes by without a case of suicide being reported while others happen away from the gaze of the media.
