Old wine in new bottles: Spent-force Chakuamba set to join PP

Months after being rejected by his mother party, the Malawi Congress Party, that was then under his nemesis, John Tembo, veteran politician who has had to retire from politics and pull out of retirement in more times than once, Gwanda Chakuamba, has gotten a new calling – so it appears.

Reports indicate that Chakuamba, who once survived a jail term owing to his old age, has been in serious talks with the current ruling Peoples’ Party of President Joyce Banda.

The reports further indicate that this is Chakuamba’s move to regain control over the Lower Shire after it slipped through his hands. It is not known whether this is Chakuamba’s way of a total come back to politics or just one of those of his high moments.

Chakuamba has, however, indicated that he has not made any contacts with the executive of the PP even though when pushed into a corner he neither refuted nor accepted the allegation that he will be joining the PP soon.
