Two women die while giving birth at Mchinji hospital due to electricty black out

The safe motherhood song is suddenly dying under the noise of the 2014 campaign trail in which all efforts of the champion of safe motherhood, President Banda, is redirecting her efforts to it.

Reports that we have indicate that two women have died together with the children they were about to deliver at Mchinji hospital due to power failure.

It is being said that power went out as doctors were assisting the two to give birth through the operational caesarian section method when electricity went out. Reliance on a supporting generator proved futile as the generator had no fuel. It has been said that the hospital, like other district hospitals, has been finding it hard to make ends meet due to poor funding and thus failed to afford fuel for the generator.

Some people are alleging that the number of those who died is actually bigger but has been scaled down for other purposes, FaceofMalawi has failed to independently verify those allegations.
