The archbishop of the Mzuzu diocese, Bishop Joseph Zuza, who came a darling of most Malawians for his scathing homily during the reign of Bingu wa Mutharika when he called the President a stupid person who could not listen to advice of others has today hailed President Joyce Banda as a role model to women in the country.

The bishop made the remarks at the awards of Chinese scholarships to outstanding female students in the MSCE examinations of 2013 at Marymount Secondary School in Mzuzu.

The bishop indicated that it was possible for girls to achieve and live their dreams and, as an example, President Joyce Banda’s name was handy to be used.

The Chinese embassy, in conjunction with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS), awards scholarships to female students who have performed well in the MSCE examinations to study in China for their Bachelors’ degree mostly in the Medical field.

  1. Does Malawi need a 2nd Vice President? Certainly no! And we all know that Bakili introduced the 2nd Vice Presidency in order to appease Chihana! Now to hear that this desperate cashgate acting government is mauling on resurrecting the 2nd Vice Presidency is disheartening! The 2nd Vice presidency simply perpetuates regionalism and eats up our already meagre resources! Just as we dont need deputy ministers for a poor economy like ours, it is blatantly myopic to appease each other with the 2nd Vice Presidency all in the name of electioneering! If Malawians and the civil society at large can allow this absurdity to happen, then we will remain the dumbest people ever! And after all our dumbness has been perfectly demonstrated on how we have silently accepted as normal the thievery of this government!
