Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Presidential torchbearer Dr Lazarus Chakwera has promised to free the Media once voted into power on May 20.
He said this in a statement he delivered through one of the local radio in the country (Zodiak Broadcasting Station).
In his speech, Chakwera said he is ready to sign the Table Mountain Declaration bill which preaches for the removal of the laws that impinge Journalist in their course of work.
“I am ready to sign the Table Mountain declaration because I believe the press needs to work without undue impediments”, he said.
Chakwera also promised to be available all the time once the media need him.
Meanwhile Malawi Institute for Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi Chapter, Chairperson, Anthony Kasunda has welcomed the development.
