GVT URGES CIVIL SERVANT TO ABIDE BY THE CONSTITUTION AS THEY AWAILT ELECTION RESULTS

The Government of Malawi  has urged all Civil Servant in the country to uphold their neutrality as stipulated in the constitution of the Republic of Malawi as they await the results of the just held tripartite election.

The government said this through a Press Statement released on Tuesday 27 by the Office of the President and Cabinet Minister.

“Government would like to appeal to all Public Servants to uphold their political neutrality as stipulated in Section 193 of the Constitution, Section 3 of the Malawi Public Service Act and Regulation 1.201 of the Malawi Public Service Regulations”, the statement read in part.

The statement further advised all Civil Servant to desist from staying away from work during this period.

“Government would like to state that it has not declared public holidays the days during which the Malawi Nation is awaiting the results of the elections. The Office of the President and Cabinet would like, therefore, to appeal to all Public Servants to continue reporting for work normally as provided for in the Public Service Act and the Malawi Public Service Regulations”, adds the statement.

The delay in the release of the results have affected the trains of business across the country as Malawians instead of working are busy following the election standoff.
