MAM TO PETITION MINISTER OF FINANCE ON EXCISE DUTY CHARGED ON BUSES

Minibus Association of Malawi (MAM) will next week petition Minister of Finance to consider reducing the Excise duty charged  on buses when importing  into the country.

MAM Chairperson Mr Kamanga confirmed of the development in an interview.

In his speech, Kamanga said the Excise duty charged when importing buses into the country is very exorbitant and this makes them fail to import more buses into the country.

He further said the duty is acting as a barrier for more business players to join the field to ease the transport problem in the country.

Kamanga  said the duty is also the one contributing to the high cost of minibus fairs in the country.
