ACCOUNTANT ARRESTED OVER ABUSE OF OFFICE

Ant-Corruption Bureau(ACB) Public Relation Officer Egrita Ndala has disclosed that the body has arrested Accountant and Systems Administrator at the Accountant General for abuse of Public Office.

Hanter Kapita Kabvina was arrested on Friday July 18, 2014.

According the Press Released issued by Ndala to the media stated that, the bureau received a complaint on October 5, 2011 alleging that public servants were making huge payments to companies owned by themselves or their colleagues for services not offered to Government.

“The Anti-Corruption Bureau instituted investigations into the matter and it was established that payments were being made to companies of public officers without offering government any service,” reads the statement in part.

The statement further indicates that Kabvina was first arrested in 2011 in connection to the crime and therefore his second arrest was necessary after the bureau investigations had uncovered more offenses which necessitated the need to interview him again under caution.

Kabvina who will soon appear in Court is being accused of abuse of Office which is contrary to section 25 B (1) of the Corrupt Practices Act.
