AMECEA plenary delegation arrives in Lilongwe

As the days draw closer to the much anticipate Plenary Assembly of the Association of Member Episcopal Conference of Eastern Africa (AMECEA) in Malawi, delegates from various member countries have started arriving in the Capital city -Lilongwe.

AMECEA secretariat management team led by the Secretary General Fr. Ferdinand Lugonzo, was the first group to arrive in Lilongwe on Wednesday, July 9th 2014.

Fr Lugonzo was accompanied by Fr. Chrisantus Ndaga (Social Communications Coordinator); Fr. Febian Mulenga Pikiti (Coordinator Pastoral Department) and Fr. Jude Waweru (Justice and Peace Coordinator). Also with the AMECEA management team were Sr. Silpher Akoth (AMECEA Accountant) and Sr. Anne Muiruri (administrative secretary to the Secretary General’s Office).

 

A team of AMECEA Executive Board Members which is chaired by Malawi’s Archbishop, Most Rev. Tarcisio Ziyaye of Lilongwe Archdiocese will arrive on July, 14, 2014 for their Executive Board meeting on 15th July 2014. These include His Eminence John Cardinal Njue (Kenya), AMECEA Patrons, Archbishop Emmanuel Obbo (Uganda), Bishop Isaac Amani (Tanzania), Bishop Medhin Tesfaselassie (Ethiopia), Bishop Kidane Yebio (Eritrea), Bishop Charles Kasonde (Zambia); Bishop Martin Mtumbuka (Malawi) and Bishop Philip Anyolo (Kenya).

Other  Bishops will arrive on July 15th  ready for their recollection the following day.

Also arriving on that day are AMECEA Secretariat staff members Ms. Wakibiru Wanjiru, Ms. Pamela Adinda and Ms. Christine Mbugi all from Kenya.

On July 17, there will be an Opening Holy Mass at Civo Stadium to be presided by His Eminence John Cardinal Njue.
