DON’T USE FORCE IN REMOVING VENDORS IN THE STREET -CHALAMANDA CAUTIONS

Blantyre City Council (BCC) Mayor Noel Chalamanda has urged the committee that has been assigned to remove the vendors plying their businesses in the street of Blantyre and Limbe to handle the case in the professional way.

Chalamanda said this during the council meeting held on Wednesday at Blantyre Civic Centre.

“I would like to urge the committee associated with the issue of removal of vendors to handle the whole system in the most integral manner because they are our fellow citizens who want to earn a living.

“At the same time I want them to be removed in the most sustainable manner so that they should not come back on the streets again,” said Chalamanda.

In their contributions, all councilors agreed that street vendors should be removed from the streets in order to keep the city clean.
