LUTEPO SAYS KELEMBA FORCED HIM TO IMPLICATE KASAMBALA IN CASHGATE

As the country is keenly waiting on how the current President Professor Peter Mutharika is going to deal with the Plundering of public funds at Capitol Hill, report reaching FaceofMaawi indicates that Businessman Osward Lutepo the suspect in Cashgate Scandal was forced by Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to implicate Ralph Kasambala.

This has been revealed in a letter addressed to the newly appointed Attorney General Kalekeni Kaphale.

In the letter, Lutepo also has accused former justice minister Fahadi Assani and prosecutor Kamudoni Nyasulu of professional misconduct and abuse of office over the way they forced him to write false witness statements and caution statements under duress.

Lutepo further said Assani forced him by then when he was at large to hand himself to police saying he will be accorded VIP treatment and stay in prison for less than three days.

“He passed on the phone to Mr. Bruno Kalemba who assured me of the same; and advised me that they were acting on Presidential directives. Again they assured me that I was to testify against the following Senior Accountants: Messrs Kazombo Mwale, Fletcher Kaizo and Madzi,” claims Lutepo in his correspondence to Attorney General.

“On my arrival I was indeed accorded free passage all the way to Area 30 Police Headquarters where I surrendered myself to Police. It was at the Police Headquarters where I was told in no uncertain terms that the Government was after the former Minister of Justice, Ralph Kasambara. I was told that I should cooperate to ensure that Ralph Kasambara was implicated in the Cashgate cases,” claims Lutepo.

The Plundering of Public funds came to light when unknown thugs shot former budget director Paul Mphwiyo.

The scandal has left the country in doom due to the fact that it led to donors to stop assisting the country.
