President Mutharika attends AMACEA opening mass

President Prof Peter Mutharika will on Thursday attend the Opening Mass for the Association of the Members Episcopal Conference of Eastern Africa (AMACEA) at Civo Stadium.

According to the press statement made available to Malawi News Agency (Mana) Wednesday authored by Presidential Press Secretary Fredrick Ndala, said the President is expected to arrive at the stadium at 9:00 am.

Ndala said the Episcopal Conference of Malawi is this year hosting the 18th plenary for the AMACEA from 16th to 26 July 2014 at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.

“The plenary will bring together 300 delegates who include cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops and the laity from the region, which comprises Eritrea, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan and Zambia,” said Ndala.

The Presidential Press Secretary added that during the plenary delegates will discuss various topics under the theme ‘New Evangelisation through True Conversation and Witnessing to Christian faith.’

The statement reads that the Civo Stadium opening mass will be presided over by His Eminence cardinal John Njue who is already in the country.
