WATCHAM KILLED;22 CHICKENS STOLEN

Police in Balaka are hunting for unknown criminals who allegedly attacked and killed a watchman only to steal chickens and turkeys.

District Public Relation Officer Sub- Inspector Joseph Sauka confirmed of the incident and identified the watchman as Magulaye Paundi.

According to the police, Paundi met the fate while on duty at Andiamo where he was guarding the birds at the house of Mr. Hazarat Pillane.

The robbers went away with 22 chickens and six turkeys.

Joseph Chika who was guarding to together with the deceased told the police that he found his colleague lying dead in the garden within the fence after a long search in the morning of Tuesday when he discovered that some chickens were on free range earlier than normal.

Postmortem results conducted at Balaka district hospital revealed that Paundi died due to internal breeding after being hit in the Stomach and head.

The deceased 60 hails from Lupanga village in senior chief Nsamala in the district.
