International Rotary chairperson visits Malawi

Chairperson of the United States-based Rotary Foundation, John Kenny is visiting Malawi to assess some of the projects supported by his organisation.Speaking on arrival at Kamuzu International Airport in the capital Lilongwe on Tuesday, Kenny commended Malawi for its stance to eradicate polio among its citizens despite having little resources.

“Malawi is the only country which made tremendous efforts in eradicating polio in the continent,” he said.

He said other countries with huge resources are still struggling to eradicate it.

Rotary Foundation is the lead organisation in the worldwide campaign to eradicate polio from the face of the earth.

During his visit that runs until Friday, Kenry is expected to hold discussions with government officials and visit various projects which Rotary clubs in Malawi are involved in.
