MALAWI COURT SENTENCE ZIMBABWEAN WOMEN TO JAIL OVER COCAINE POSSESSION

A Zimbabwean woman who was arrested at Dedza boarder for allegedly being in possession of Cocaine has been slapped a 12 months Jail term or pay a fine of MK100,000.

Simiro Ndovi was arrested on July 23 at Dedza boarder post after the detectives discovered that she was hiding the drugs in Mango Juice bottles and sealed them in Mango Juice labeled cartons.

Ndovi pleaded guilty to the offense.

During the court proceedings, Ndovi asked for leniency from the Magistrates claiming she was sent by a colleague to transport the seized cocaine to South Africa.

But the magistrate refused her arguing the sentence should serve as a lesson to deter the- would -be offenders.

Ndovi has since paid the K100,000 fine.
