FLAMES BEATS ETHIOPIA 3-2 IN AFCON QUALIFYING CAMPAIGN GROUP B

Malawi national football team the flames has beaten Ethiopia 3-2 in 2015 African Cup of Nation (AFCON) qualifying campaign to go third in group B.

The game was played today at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Coach Young Chimodzi deployed goalkeeper Macdonald Harawa in goals with four defenders Limbikani Mzava, Harry Nuno Nyirenda, Lucky Malata and Frances Mlimbika.

In midfield, he started with Joseph Kamwendo, Robert Ng’ambi, Chimango Kayira and Robin Ngalande. Upfront he deployed two striker Atusaye Nyondo and Gabadihno Mhango.

Flames started the game on high note as they were the first to reach on the ball and attach Ethiopia from the left and right.

No wonder flames scored the first goal 15 minutes in the first half through Atusaye Nyondo. The goal added anger into the flames to score more goals.

Although this was the case, Ethiopia leveled the scoring in the 44th minute of the first half after flames went to bed.

In the second half, flames started the game on the slow note with Ethiopia piling the pressure. Although this was the case, flames added another goal through Frank Banda who replaced Gabadinho Mhango before Atusaye Nyondo adding the third goal.

Ethiopia came back into the game in the dying minutes and scored their second goal. Full time it was flames 3-Ethopia 2.

This means flames is now third in Group B with Mali leading.
