MAN SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT IHL FOR RAPING A PREGNANT LADY

A 30-year-old man, identified as James Manyenje, was on Wednesday sentenced to life imprisonment by Mzuzu High Court for raping a pregnant lady.

Rachel Katoto, the State Prosecutor had earlier told the court that Manyenje, attacked the 19- year-old pregnant lady in her house and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

The prosecutor said the convict after carrying out the evil act, went ahead to shave the victim’s pubic hair and put it in her mouth.

Rachel further revealed that Manyenje also poured Kachasu on the mouth of the teenager, in order to flush the hair through her throat into her stomach.

The prosecutor also presented a medical report obtained from Mzuzu Central Hospital, as evidence of rape against the accused to prove her case beyond reasonable doubt.

Manyenje was found guilty of rape, and was sentenced to life imprisonment with Hard Labour (IHL).

Meanwhile, Police officials in Kasungu on September 23, 2014, paraded a 60-year-old man, identified as Friday Banda, for allegedly raping a 9-year-old daughter of his employer.
