MCP PRESIDENT APPOINTS A 20 MEMBER MCP SHADOW CABINET

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Lazarus Chakwera has appointed the party’s Shadow Cabinet comprising Members of Parliament sitting the August House.

Chakwera, who is also the Leader of Opposition, said he appointed the Shadow Cabinet to deepen and strengthen their engagement on the policy front as they continue to look for the best ways of serving all Malawians while in the opposition.

“As a party, we are committed to offering the Malawi Nation the best we can through constructive policy engagement with the current Government and our counterparts in the opposition.

“Let me invite you all to interact with the members of the Shadow Cabinet and channel your policy advice to us. The appointment is with immediate effect,” Chakwera said.

In the MCP Shadow cabinet, Chakwera responsible for Malawi Defence Force and the Malawi Police Services; Parastatals and Disaster Preparedness.

While the party’s publicity secretary and gender activist Jessie Kabwila and Dedza East Parliamentarian Juliana Lunguzi are responsible for Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare; and Health respectively.

Legislator Joseph Njobvuyalema is the shadow minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development with Peter Chakhwantha, Chairperson of Parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee, being appointed Justice and Constitutional Affairs Shadow Minister.
