TNM SUPER LEAGUE WEEK 19 ROUND UP

It was a week of derbies in all the three regions of the TNM super league as Big Bullets, Moyale Barracks, Mafco FC and Azam Tigers came out victors in the local contested derbies.

On Saturday, Pilirani Zonda’s magnificent strike condemned Mighty Wanderers to another painful derby defeat in the hands of their bitter rivals Big Bullets at the giant Kamuzu Stadium. This was a fifth loss to Bullets in all competitions this year.

At Chitowe Stadium, Mafco fc came out top by beating their brothers in arms Airborne Rangers 3-1 in a closely contested encounter. Mafco were just too good over the rookies.

In another match played at Civo Stadium, Epac FC were hammered by the free scoring Blue Eagles 3-1 to ensure that the area 49 outfit remains top of the standings. On Sunday, Azam Tigers piled more misery on relegation threatened Blantyre utd by recording a 1 nil victory at Kamuzu Stadium.

Tigers had a positive trip in Mzuzu last week as they managed to collect 4 points from the possible 6 points whilst Blantyre utd had a weekend to forget as they lost 6 points from their two home assignments.

At Civo Stadium, Civo Service utd left it late to savage a 1-1 draw to Silver Strikers in front of thousands of spectators. Blessings Tembo had given the Bankers a lead but just when they thought the victory was theirs, Civo utd scored in 93rd minute to put the game at par, much to the disbelief of Silver Strikers mentor Stain Chirwa.

This was Silver Striker’s second game in row to concede in the dying minutes.

Last week, the area 47 outfit gave away a 2-1 lead to Bullets in the dying minutes of the match. In other match, Red Lions were held to a goalless draw at home to Chikhwawa utd.

Week 19 has produced 14 goals in 7 matches, taking the tally of all goals scored in the TNM super league to 353 from 136 games. All the results On Saturday -Mighty Wanderers 0-1 Big Bullets -Airborne Rangers 1-3 Mafco -Epac FC 1-3 blue Eagles On Sunday -Azam Tigers 1-0 Blantyre utd -Karonga utd 0-2 Moyale Barracks -Red Lions 0-0 Chikhwawa utd -Civo Service utd 1-1 Silver Strikers
