Ntchisi Police have arrested a 37 year old Felix Sibande on allegation that he defiled his 9-year-old step daughter.
According to police reports the incident happened on the night of September 30 this year at Manthalu village in the area of Traditional Authority Chilooko in Ntchisi.
Sibande is alleged to have defiled his 9-year-old step daughter (name withheld) when his wife Matilda Sibande had gone to attend a funeral ceremony at Ntchisi Boma.
The girl’s mother Matilda Sibande alleged that the girl was staying with her when the suspect defiled the girl for two occasions the time she had gone to Ntchisi Boma to attend a funeral ceremony. The suspect allegedly went into the girl’s bedroom and threatened to beat her if she revealed the matter and ended up defiling her.
The matter was then reported to Malomo Police Unit by the victim’s mother where the victim was taken to Malomo Health Centre where medical examinations revealed that the girl was defiled as she had a torn hymen due to forced penetration.
The suspect had been on the run until on October 3 this year when he was arrested.
Felix Sibande who hails from Chibati village in the area of Traditional Authority Mdunga in Kasungu is expected to appear in court soon to answer the charge of defilement.
