College of Medicine (CoM) has announced that it has suspended all students over their recent demos demanding government to pay their upkeep allowances before the semester came to an end.
FaceofMalawi discovered that CoM student last week Friday blocked the roads as a sign of frustration.
FOM speaking to one of the students who opted for anonymity said government allegedly wanted to pay them K20, 000 instead of the normal K35, 000 accommodation money which they receive on a monthly basis.
Mzuzu University (Mzuni) last week also suspended over 900 students while Chancellor College (Chanco) students in Zomba as well went on rampage demanding government to increase their accommodation allowances.
The major cause to the recent demos is the misunderstanding between the concerned parties on the amount of allowance students are suppose to bag considering that they are going towards the end of the semester.
While students have taken to the streets demanding a fee hike, state president Peter Mutharika has had his salary recently increased by 80%.
