One of the vocalist in the Health sector Dorothy Ngoma has been elected as National Organization of Nurses and Midwives President (NONM)outclassing three other contestants.
The elections were held at Natural Resources college in the capital city Lilongwe on Sunday.
Ngoma got 85 votes while Abraham Gama, the outgoing President obtained 59 votes, Griphine Chirambo receive 28 votes and Regina Mankhamba got 17 votes.
Speaking after the election, Ngoma who once worked as a lecture at Kamuzu college of nursing said that during her term of office she will advocates for nurses welfare.
She also disclosed that during her tenure she will ensure the establishment of wellness centre for treatment, care, and support for the nurses.
Ngoma is the one who led to the establishment of NONM and she also once worked as Executive Director to same organisation before being appointed as National coordinator for safe Motherhood by former President Dr. Joyce Banda.
