A 19 year-old Form 3 student at Magoti Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) is in hiding after physically assaulting the school’s watchman days after he had been suspended from the school.
FaceofMalawi speaking to Nsanje Police publicist sub-inspector Samson Balaka confirmed of the development saying the boy has been identified as Jereman Bandawe.
Bandawe hails from Esnart Village, Traditional Authority Mbenje in the district.
Bandawe along with six others students were given a punishment to dig rubbish pits, for breaching the school’s rules, revealed the publicist.
FOM sources indicate the students were not happy with the school’s decision on them and so they plotted to contaminate the headmaster’s water at his residence by disposing in it wastes.
“On Wednesday (last week), around 6pm, he went to the school again and started knocking at the doors of the main administration block,” said Balaka.
Balaka further revealed that when the security guard on duty asked what he [Bandawe] was looking for, he was beaten up severely.
