Reports reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Spokesperson Hetherwick Ntaba has withdrawn from taking his position as Malawi’s High Commissioner to United Kingdom on personal grounds.
The development comes barely weeks after the Public Appointment Committee (PAC) of Parliament approved his appointment.
PAC chairperson Lingson Belekanyama confirmed of the development in an interview with one of the local daily papers in the country [Nation Newspaper], saying President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has also been informed of the news.
On his part, Chief Secretary to the President George Mkondiwa also confirmed of the news but he refereed FaceofMalawi’s reporter to Ntaba for more details on the matter.
FOM’s effort to talk to Ntaba proved futile as his phone was out of reach.
Ntaba’s withdraw has surprised many Malawians.
