There was pandemonium at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) on Tuesday afternoon after the Police arrested 26-year-old man spotted in the ward posing as medical doctor.
Lilongwe Police spokesperson Kingsley Dandaula confirmed of the arrest and identified the suspect as Rasford Gogoda from Simon Village, Traditional Authority Simon in Neno.
According to Dandaula, the suspect was identified by a certain man at the hospital who knew him personally and alerted the nearby Area 33 Police Unit.
“When the suspect realized that he was being hunted, he started to run health workers at the referral health facility called for help and he was rounded up and apprehended by members of the public”, said Dandaula.
Dandaula also disclosed that this was not the first for Gogoda to be arrested on the similar offence, saying in August sentenced to 300 hours of community service.
Apart from wearing a white coat, the suspect was found with stethoscope round his neck, and with some documents in his hand.
Last year, Police in Blantyre arrested two bogus doctors at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital and one of them has been sentenced to 7 years.
