Police in Nsanje have arrested a Pastor John Bobo of Local Believers’ Church for assaulting an elderly woman in her 70s over land ownership, leaving her with fractured bones.
The woman who was identified as Dorica Madalo, is said to have sustained a fracture on her right arm as a result of the incident.
According to Madalo Pastor Bobo beat her after she questioned his motive to build his church”s fence beyond his bounds.
“I was beaten up by Pastor John Bobo on Monday February 9, 2015. The incident was happening when my husband went to the garden,” said Madalo.
Madalo further alleged that Pastor Bobo kicked her several times before she fell down.
“You can see that my right arm is in plasters of Paris (POP) after sustaining a fracture. This is a price I got after asking him why he was constructing his fence beyond the boundary,” she said.
Madalo further added: “I would wish to see justice in my case. I cannot do anything for my family as you have seen for yourself.”
Meanwhile, Pastor Bobo has been arrested, and according to the Police, he is being charged with the offence of grievous harm.
Both the victim and the suspect hail from Tsekelani village in the area of N’gabu in Nsanje.
