Police in Mangochi have arrested one of the suspects in the shooting of former Budget Director Mr. Paul Mphwiyo, Robert Kadzuwa for allegedly being involved in a number of robberies in Mangochi.
Mangochi Police Inspector Kondwani Ntchawaka confirmed of the arrest in an interview with the Press and identified other suspects as James Banda, Ben Magwira and Dyson Manuel.
Kadzuwa is being suspected to have robbed two houses in separate attacks and went away with money amounting to MK2 million.
According to Ntchawaka, Kadzuwa and three other suspects are alleged to have robbed a Mr Nazil Hessen Quaral’s house and went away with $500 and other assorted electronic gadgets valued at over K1 million.
On March 1, Kadzuwa with his co-accused who were heavily armed also attacked a house belonging to Fatuma M;bwana and stole K185 000 cash and other items valued at K718 000.
However, Ntchawaka has revealed James Banda has pleaded guilty to the offence leveled against him while the court has set 26 March as the day it will hear the armed robbery case for Kadzuwa and the other two suspects.
Kadzuwa alongside former Justice Minister Ralph Kasambara and four others are answering conspiracy and murder charges against Paul Mphwiyo on September 13, 2013.
On Wednesday,the High Court in Lilongwe revoked his bail on the grounds that he has been shunning court proceedings and he was also being hunted by the police.
