As the firing and hiring continues at State House, reports reaching Faceofmalawi indicates that President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s aide-de-camp (ADC) Lieutenant Colonel Fostino Gunda-Phiri has been fired.
The development comes barely a week after President Mutharika also fired Acting Presidential Press Secretary Timpunza Mwansambo Mwale for allegedly drawing two salaries.
When approached for comment, Chief of staff at State House Peter Mukhito denied to comment on the matter.
But Malawi Difence Force (MDF) Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Francis Kakhuta-Banda confirmed of the development in an interview with one of the local daily papers in the country [Nation Newspaer].
“I can confirm that Lieutenant Colonel Phiri is no longer with State House. He has been recalled to MDF to carry out other duties,” he said.
When asked as to why Phiri has been removed from State House, Banda could not give reason for the firing.
Since President Mutharika ascended to the high office on May 20 over seven staffs are reported to have been shown matching orders at State House.
The development has raised suspicion among workers at State House.
Recently various stakeholders including opposition Political Parties in the country accused President of favouring people from the Southern Region when making appointments.
