Information sourced by FaceofMalawi indicates that three people in the commercial capital Blantyre have been reported dead as results of Cholera outbreak that has hit the district.

Health officials have attributed the pandemic to the continued intermittent shortage of water supply, forcing people to resort to drinking unsafe water.

Confirming the development, Bantyre District Health Officer Dr. Medson Matchaya said the situation is worrisome.

“As of Monday this week three people have died while 11 new cases have been registered thereby bringing number of cases to 41 from 30 last week,” said Matchaya.

The deaths according to Dr Matchaya have been recorded in Zingwangwa, Mbayani and Chileka residential areas.

The DHO said other cases have also been recorded in Chilomoni and Chirimba.

Meanwhile there are fears that the number may go due to Water woes which is still rocking the district.
