Close to forty people escaped unhurt after a bus they were travelling in went up in flames Thursday night in Dedza district.
Dedza Police Public Relations Officer Sergeant Edward Kabango confirmed of the incident in an interview with one of the privately owned radio in the country [ZBS].
According to Kabango, the Axa bus, registration number 20, was coming from Blantyre heading to Mzuzu.
The incident happened at Golomoti road block around 9 in the evening.
Sergeant Kabango said police manning a road block at Golomoti noticed smoke and informed the driver and asked passengers to alight from the vehicle.
“As soon as the passengers got out of the bus, the vehicle went up in flames. All the passengers did not sustain injuries, “said Kabango.
Meanwhile the cause of the fire is not yet known but the bus is an irreparably condition.
