Minister of Information, Tourism and Culture Kondwani Nankhumwa has said former President Professor Bingu wa Mutharika’s death was not a natural one and has accused former President Dr. Joyce Banda of killing him.
Nankhumwa made the claims during the commemoration of late Bingu wa Mutharika at Ndata farm in Thyolo on Saturday.
The ceremony was graced by former President of Zambia, Rupiah Banda, former President of Malawi, Dr. Bakili Muluzi, former Vice President, Nkhumbo Hastings Kachali and former Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President John Tembo.
In his speech which received cheers from Party followers, Nankhumwa cautioned President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to beware of People he meets at State House, saying not all who come and meet him come in good faith.
“Imfa ya malemu Bingu inachita kupangidwa ndi anthu. Anthu ena anamupha Bingu. Anaphedwa podzera project yotchedwa JB. Ndiyeno aliyense akudziwa kuti JB ndi ndani, kaya ndi Bakili Muluzi, amangidwe basi. (The death of the late Bingu was man-made. Bingu was murdered through a syndicate called ‘the JB Project’. And everyone here knows who this JB is. But whether it is Bakili Muluzi, he must arrested to answer charges of treason as soon as possible” said Nankhumwa.
Nankhumwa said he was in possession of evidence to support his claims and he urged the President to launch an investigation to the matter.
Late Bingu wa Mutharika died of cardiac arrest in April 5, 2012 while in office. His death led to the ascendancy of Banda to the high Office despite being in bad blood with her predecessor.
