In the recent security lapse, some unknown thugs on Tuesday morning broke into offices of two Cabinet ministers and stole property including some computers.
Confirming the development with FaceofMalawi Lilongwe Police publicist, Kingsley Dandaula said the incident took place in the office of the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Food Security Allan Chiyembekeza and Minister of Labour and Manpower Development Henry Mussa.
“We strongly suspect that such cases are the work of insiders. Surprisingly, this is happening when we have a police unit at Capital Hill with officers on patrol. We also know that some ministries hire security guards from private firms,” he said.
Dandaula said apart from the computers, the suspected thieves also stole assorted office items.
The PRO further revealed that investigations were underway to find out why thugs have been lately targeting the ministers’ offices as this is not the first time that thugs have broken into Minister’s offices.
Just last week Secretary for Labour and Manpower Development, Patrick Kabambe, said suspected thieves also stole computers from the offices of the minister and his secretary.
