CIVIL SERVANTS YET TO RECEIVE THEIR JUNE SALARIES: GOVT CALLS FOR CALM

The government of Malawi has called on Civil Servants in the country to remain calm over the delay in their June salaries, saying everything will be sorted out within this week.

Speaking in an interview with the Press, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development Spokesperson Nations Msowoya attributed the delay to end of financial year processes such as closing of financial books and preparations for the 2015/16 financial year.

“The exercise of closing books and preparing new ones can be time consuming, but the salaries will be processed this week.

“Civil servants should not panic. We apologise for the delays, but everything will be perfected this week,” he said.

Civil Servants in the country receive their monthly dues on the 27th of each and every month.

Meanwhile there are possibilities that Civil Servants may go in the month of July without salaries.
