MINISTRY OF EDUCATION RELEASES ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR 2015/16

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has disclosed that the calendar for 2015/16 academic year will run from 7th September, 2015 to 15th July, 2016.

This has been disclosed in a Press statement released on Thursday July 23, 2015 made available to FaceofMalawi.

According to the statement, Primary and Secondary school academic year will 40 weeks long while the Teacher Training Colleges and Technical Colleges sessions will run through 38 weeks.

Below is the academic calendar for 2015/16
PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS 2015 -2016 ACADEMIC CALENDAR
TERM OPENING CLOSING
1 7th September 2015 18th December 2015
2 4th January 2015 24th March 2016
3 11th April 2016 5th July 2016

TEACHERS TRAINING COLLEGES AND TECHNICAL COLLEGES 2015 -2016 ACADEMIC CALENDAR
TERM OPENING CLOSING
1 7th September, 2015 18th December 2015
2 11th January, 2016 18th March 2016
3 11th April, 2016 15th July 2016

As usual, schools and colleges will observe public holidays. In addition, secondary schools and colleges will have the traditional mid-term holiday from 29th February, 2016 to 4th March, 2016. Similarly, primary
schools will have a one-day casual holiday during the same week.
All educational institutions and the general public are reminded that the school calendar is harmonized for all educational institutions, both public and private, and at all levels, from primary schools to universities. No educational institution is, therefore, allowed to operate outside this academic calendar.
