POLICE LAUNCHES A MANHUNT FOR DISQUALIFIED PP CANDIDATE

Police in Mzuzu are hunting for Opposition People’s Party (PP) candidates Blackson Gondwe who was recently disqualified from taking part in the Mzuzu city’s Chibanja ward by-elections.

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) disqualified Gondwe on the grounds that he obtained registration certificate fraudulently and his name does not appear on the list of registered voters.

According to information at hand, Police are hunting Gondwe on the grounds that he forged his identification card and that he obtained registration certificate fraudulently.

Gondwe is currently reported to be at large.

The by elections will be conducted in Khwawa Ward in Karonga; Chibanja Ward in Mzuzu; Msikisi Ward in Mangochi, Zomba Central Ward in Zomba and Lutchenza Ward in Thyolo.
